Modern day Men’s Gymnastics consists of six separate pieces of apparatus: floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and the high bar. Aside from the high level of technical precision, gymnastics requires strength, bravery, agility and flexibility, and is one of the most visually impressive sports on the planet.
At Bulmershe Gymnastics, our Men’s squad provides a competitive environment in which talented young gymnasts can flourish. We perform talent identification from the age of 4, seeking to ready and prepare young gymnasts for their first opportunity to compete nationally, aged 8. Following talent ID, gymnasts are invited to our Pre-Junior Squad (aged 4-7) where they will build strength, confidence, and learn the basic building blocks of the sport. From Pre-Junior Squad, gymnasts that show an affinity for the sport are then invited to the main squad (aged 7 -18+) where they can expect to train anything from 7 up to 20 hours a week.
Despite being a relatively young programme we have produced multiple regional champions and regularly compete at national level, and in 2019 secured our first national medal at the British Championships and competed in our first international competition.
Gymnastics is a hugely rewarding sport, and many of our former athletes have gone on to compete at the highest level in other sports, such as rugby and diving, showing the foundational strength that gymnastics provides.
The club occasionally run open trials for the Men’s squad, so if you are interested or require further information, please email membership@bulmershegc.co.uk
